Katarina Johnson-Thompson made two personal bests as she opened a lead.
The Briton has 4,138 points after four events together with all the second (4,042) along with Kendell Williams third party (3,855).
The 26-year-old won her 100m hurdles race in 13.09 minutes – shooting 0.21secs off her previous best.
Her high leap was 1.95cm until 13.86m at the shot put – a 71cm progress.
Johnson-Thompson then conducted 23.08 within her 200m warmth to regain the lead heading into the last few areas on Thursday.
