Rafael Nadal celebrates ‘unforgettable’ US Open triumph

Rafael Nadal says his”unforgettable” US Open triumph against Daniil Medvedev has augmented his own heritage from tennis and admits it was”impossible” to maintain his feelings after his 19th Grand Slam title.
The 33-year-old Spaniard held off a thrilling fightback from first time important finalist Medvedev seal on his title at Flushing Meadows and to win in five places on Sunday.
Nadal cried courtside as a video of his wins had been played around the Arthur Ashe Stadium after the match and collapsed onto his spine in celebration after an absorbing near five-hour epic.
“This trophy means what to me now,” said Nadal.
“Personal satisfaction of the way which I resisted these tough moments is extremely high.
“The feelings have been there seeing all the success, all the minutes that came into my mind… Yeah, I still tried to hold the emotion, but in some minutes it was impossible.”
Nadal appeared set to record a regular – if – straight-sets success when he led by two sets and a rest before Medvedev hit back to provide a US Open classic.
“At exactly the exact same time, Daniil created this moment also,” he said. “The way that he fought, the way he playedis a champion way. Just well done . I truly feel he will have a lot more chances”

Focus inevitably changed into the debate around which member of the’Big Three’ would finish their career with the many Grand Slam titles.
Nadal moved in one of linking the all-time haul of 20 of Roger Federer from the men’s game, while he transferred three titles apparent.
“I feel honoured to be a part of the battle [with Federer and Djokovic]. However, I truly believe that I will not be happier or less happy in this happens or doesn’t occur,” said the Spaniard, who first won a Grand Slam in the 2005 French Open.
“I am not going to exercise daily or never play tennis for this. Since I really like to play tennis I am playing tennis.
“I can not only think about Grand Slams, no more? Tennis is more than Grand Slams. I want to consider the remaining things.
“I perform to be happy. Needless to say, the victory today makes me super happy. All the items that I achieved in my profession are a lot more than what I ever thought and what I ever dreamed.”
