Jon Rahm hoping to beat Seve Ballesteros in race to five wins
Jon Rahm is expecting to distract the great Seve Ballesteros if he uttered his Open de Espana title.
Rahms success on home soil in April last season has been his third European Tour title in only his start, and he went on to acquire a second Irish Open summit in July.
The entire whole world No 5 now hopes to make championship history as he seemed to become the first player to successfully defend the title since the tournament became part of the European Tour program in 1971, and he is also decided to property his fifth career success faster than Ballesteros.
The five-time key winner, who died in 2011, picked up his fifth win in his 49th beginning on Tour, while Rahm is creating his 39th look this week as he tees up alongside compatriots Sergio Garcia and Rafa Cabrera Bello in the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.
I hope I can get to five before Seve did, Id really like to do that, Rahm said, that held off Paul Dunne to procure a two-shot win at the Centro Nacional de Golf almost 18 weeks ago.
Those documents are almost always nice, and that is something that I have in mind when I am playing. There are some weeks when I really need to win. And Id really like to be a multiple champion of the Open de Espana and I would love this to be the very first time. So, I hope this happens.
It will not be more pressure than last year. It was the first time the event and I played, I was fourth in the world, I had only played well at Augusta and it had been a golf course I played with in high school.
This time I dont know the golf course. Hopefully I will just focus on playing fantastic golf and maintain the mix on Sunday.
Last years tournament attracted over 50,000 lovers, and Rahm is currently hoping to be cheered on by another large turnout this past week.
It was a terrific week, he further added. Walking down to the 18th green was a fantastic sense – 50,000 fans showed up to a event that has been planned and advertised overdue.
Id love to know how many additional European Tour events get 50,000 individuals. I was very pleased with my nation and proud of myself to have the ability to come and win.
Its a massive honor to represent Spain and Spanish golfclubs. We all attempt to follow Seves measures and to win that event was exceptional and very special.
